Former NFL wide receiver Julian Edelman took to Twitter on Tuesday morning to express his feelings about the recent comments made by rapper Kanye West.
West, who now identifies as 'Ye', recently stated that he believed a "Jewish mafia" was out to get him. He continued over the past few weeks by defending his hate speech with additional anti-Semitic rants.
Edelman was raised as a Christian but converted to Judaism in adulthood. His paternal great-grandfather was Jewish, and the former wide receiver has stated in the past that he had experienced a "Jewish awakening" and that his faith changed his life.
Edelman's post on Tuesday morning shared how he felt about West's recent actions and overall hate.

He had two photos posted side-by-side with the caption that read: "Speak Up." The first read:
"I hate being anti-semitic, it's awesome"
The second was written by Julian Edelman himself, stating that mental health is a serious issue but it's never an excuse for hate, adding that hate is a disease. He then encouraged others to speak up.
"Mental health is a serious issue and needs to be at the forefront of the American dialog [sic]. It's also not an excuse for hate. Hate is a disease just like every other, except that words can spread it. Speak up, not down."
This is not the first time that Julian Edelman has spoken out against anti-Semitic comments. Two years ago, he spoke out against NFL wide receiver DeSean Jackson for the same, and just last year, he invited NBA player Meyers Leonard to a Shabbat dinner after his hateful comments.
Julian Edelman's comments come just after Adidas cuts ties with West
Julian Edelman's tweet on Tuesday comes after Adidas officially released a statement saying they would be cutting ties with West. Adidas has been the subject of criticism lately for their lack of action against West and his anti-Semitic comments.
The rapper even stated at one point that he can make any comments that he wants and Adidas will never do anything about it. This even caused a #BoycottAdidas trend on social media.
“Ye’s recent comments and actions have been unacceptable, hateful, and dangerous, and they violate the company’s values of diversity and inclusion, mutual respect and fairness. Adidas will terminate the partnership with Ye, end production of Yeezy branded products and stop all payments to Ye and his companies."
West's 'Yeezy' line with Adidas brought in over $240 million to the sportswear company.
The Gap and Balenciaga also recently announced that they would no longer be working with Kanye West.
