There seems to be some doubt regarding whether or not Aaron Rodgers will return for another season with the New York Jets in 2025. On Friday, NFL insider Dianna Russini joined "The Ryen Russillo Podcast" to talk about the longtime signal-caller's future with the Jets.

When asked whether Rodgers will be wearing a Jets uniform next season, after Aaron Glenn gets hired as head coach, Russini said:

"[On Rodgers returning] I don't think so, I think he's so divisive. He's still talented, I still believe Aaron Rodgers is going to play and I want him to. I still want to see more Aaron Rodgers football. I just think the Jets know this is something they went all-in on, it didn't work, and trying to bleed this out I think could just make it more complicated.
"With a new head coach, a new regime, they want new vibes, In the same regard, when you look at the quarterback market right now and the situation, it's not awesome. That's a problem, it's why you're seeing so many coaches run to teams with quarterbacks because it just doesn't look good."

Aaron Rodgers and the Jets' disappointing 2024 season

Aaron Rodgers' run with the Jets was underwhelming in 2024. Even after reacquiring former longtime receiver Davante Adams from their playing days in Green Bay, to go along with talent such as Garrett Wilson and Breece Hall on the offensive side of the ball, Rodgers and the Jets couldn't get things going.

The Jets ended the year with a record of 5-12, missing the NFL playoffs yet again. There was a ton of hype surrounding this Jets team heading into the season with a healthy Rodgers.

Given that he has become somewhat of a distraction off the field, paired with the fact that his play hasn't translated into many wins for the organization, the Jets may decide to part ways with the former Super Bowl winner.

Rodgers finished the 2024 season with 3,897 passing yards, with 28 touchdowns against 11 interceptions. He posted a 90.5 quarterback rating, one of the lowest of his career after playing a full season.

Should the Jets decide to move on from Rodgers during the offseason, it will be interesting to see who they decide to replace him with.
