Aidan Hutchinson has been the Detroit Lions' best pass rusher since being selected in the first round of the 2022 NFL draft. He totaled 21 sacks across his first two seasons with the team and entered the 2024 season with high expectations to be one of the best-edge players in the league.

He got off to a solid start to his season with one sack in Week 1 against the Los Angeles Rams but took things to another level in Week 2. He recorded 4.5 sacks against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and was seemingly in the backfield on almost every play.

Many fans praised Hutchinson for his impressive performance:

Hutchinson was initially credited with five sacks against Baker Mayfield in Week 2, but the fifth one was downgraded to a half of a sack, giving him 4.5 sacks during his dominant performance. Unfortunately for the Lions, it wasn't enough to get them the win as the Buccaneers still came out victorious from the contest.

Through two weeks of the 2024 NFL season, Hutchinson is now up to 5.5 sacks and has firmly planted himself into the early conversation for the Defensive Player of the Years award. He is no stranger to accolades during his career so far after finishing as the runner up Sauce Gardner for the Defensive Rookie of the Year award in his first season and followed it up with a Pro Bowl selection in year two.

Aidan Hutchinson came up just one sack short of tying when he totaled 4.5 sacks against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 2 of the 2024 NFL season.

For what it's worth, Derrick Thomas holds the NFL record with seven sacks in a single game. Five players are tied in second-place with six sacks in a single game, with Khalil Mack being the most recent to do so.
