"He may have to retire", "He's done" - Tua Tagovailoa concussion update has NFL fans concerned about QB's life

Tua Tagovailoa has had a whirlwind of a season. He suffered multiple concussions during the season, while taking hits and ensuring that the Miami Dolphins qualified for the playoffs.

His performances earned him a spot in the Pro Bowl. However, he will not make it there as it turns out that he is still in concussion protocol. Given how serious his concussions have been, including one where he was not taken out of the game, it paints a worrying picture.

NFL fans across the board echoed this worry. Despite Tua Tagovailoa's stellar season and most Miami fans hoping he'll be back in shape next year, his long-term health has become a major concern. Fans took to Twitter to express their feelings.

Tua Tagovailoa advised by others to call it a day

Though his lack of participation in the Pro Bowl might be out of an abundance of caution, there is a real worry that his concussions might add up to a more serious outcome later in life.

In addition, concussions are not the only injuries he has faced in his career. He underwent high ankle surgery during his time in college in Alabama. He underwent surgery after dislocating his hip as well. He also suffered rib injuries during his time with the Dolphins. That is in addition to probably getting concussed thrice this season.

Emmanuel Acho said it best when he explained how Luke Kuechly was forced to give up the game at the age of 28 because he had suffered three concussions in his career. That is the same number that Tua has had this season.

However, there were others who said that his retirement should not be a forgone conclusion. They argued that the choice should rest with Tua Tagovailoa alone and that he should be responsible for the decision.

Tua has made it clear so far that he is not looking to give up his football career. After the Miami Dolphins went out in the Wild Card round in the playoffs this year, he said he was excited for what lay ahead.

While he will indeed make the best decision for himself, the hope is that Tua Tagovailoa will get the right support he needs in arriving at a conclusion.
