Fans on social media have reacted to a report detailing New York Giants general manager Joe Schoen's harsh comment to a player. According to ESPN's Jordan Raanan, tensions have been rising within the Giants organization amid their 3-14 season.

In an article published on Friday, it was mentioned that before Week 4, the team asked cornerback Nick McCloud to take a pay cut from the $2.89 million one-year contract he signed in the offseason. McCloud wanted to stay with the Giants, but he did not want to agree to the cut. Regarding this, some players shared that Schoen allegedly made a harsh comment to McCloud's representative:

"Don't pay October's rent, all right? As soon as I can replace him, I'm going to replace him. I'm not f**** around." (h/t ESPN)

On Friday, NFL columnist Pat Leonard shared a screenshot of the ESPN article on his X (formerly Twitter) account, with the caption:

"This is how the #Giants treat people now. Their GM has a reputation, and so do they."

Fans in the comments section of the post slammed Schoen for his behavior.

"He’s going to get fired after next year. Mara knows there isn’t depth in this QB class and the current coaching candidates weren’t ideal either. He’s basically kicked the can to next year where he’s going to fire everybody anyway," a fan wrote.
"Schoen is one of the worst GMs in NFL, period," a fan commented.

One fan pointed out the team's tarnished reputation:

"We were once considered a classy organization."

Others expressed their disappointment with both Schoen and the team.

"Don’t know how shoen has a job. That is unbelievable," one more fan said.
"This is how most front offices get down in the NFL. But the Giants were just out and out flagrant during the season and hard knocks," another fan said.
"Joke of an organization at all levels," a fan jotted.

Joe Schoen set to continue as GM of the Giants in 2025

Team President John Mara confirmed on Monday that Schoen will keep his role, and coach Brian Daboll will also be retained. In a statement about the decision, Mara said (via ESPN):

"Joe Schoen and Brian Daboll will continue in their respective roles with the organization. As disappointing as the results of the season have been, [team chairman Steve] Tisch and I remain confident in the process that Joe and Brian have implemented and their vision for our team. We look forward to the future and the result we all desire."

The New York-based franchise had significant struggles this season and managed to win only three games. Its victories came in Week 3 against the Cleveland Browns, Week 5 against the Seattle Seahawks and Week 17 against Indianapolis Colts.
