Deshaun Watson is in the crosshairs of scrutiny amid a season marred by injuries, controversies and dismal team performance. ESPN host Michelle Smallmon during a segment on Unsportsmanlike held nothing back.
She straight up questioned Watson’s dedication to his team after the Cleveland Browns ended their 2024 season with a 3-14 record.
“They're 3-14, they've had a really rough season, and he's out there getting worked by the Baltimore Ravens while he's on the side of the road making TikToks with his girlfriend,” Smallmon said. "It doesn't seem like he cares about the team or that he wants to be there either."
Elaborating more, Smallmon shared how she is disappointed with Watson’s both on-field performance and his perceived off-field priorities.

"I know that everybody deserves to have their own life, but I would think that if I really wanted to be better at my job, if I really wanted to say, "Hey, I haven't been as good as you've needed me to be because of injury, suspension, and poor play," that I would be in the facility," she added.
"I would be there for my teammates. I would be trying to do everything I could to make sure that I was exerting my presence with the organization so that they would still know, I'm the quarterback, and I'm your leader."
On December 25, Deshaun Watson made headlines for a TikTok video that made headlines about his personal life. Therefore, ESPN host Michelle Smallmon's comments were a dig at the QB's actions, particularly when a team is in crisis.
Looking back at Watson's 2024 season, it was plagued by inconsistency and injuries. Before a ruptured Achilles sidelined him for the remainder of the year, he only managed to score 1,020 passing yards, five TDs and three interceptions over seven games.
Adding to the gloom, Watson’s recovery from the Achilles injury has reportedly hit a setback. So much so that it raises concerns about his availability for the 2025 season. Browns GM Andrew Berry is in a dilemma about whether to stick by their QB or go for their No. 2 draft pick to land a potential replacement.
Deshaun Watson silenced breakup rumors with a lavish birthday tribute to Jilly Anais post after posting a cryptic Tiktok video
Cleveland Browns QB Deshaun Watson is still in a relationship with Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue model, Jilly Anais. He celebrated Jilly's 29th birthday.
The NFL star decorated the couple's Miami apartment into a red-and-gold wonderland before whisking Anais away for a private yacht dinner.
“Happy Birthday To You Queen!” Watson wrote in a heartfelt Instagram post alongside sharing moments from the day.
"4ever love you ma! Grateful to celebrate with you! Continue to smile and inspire! 💯 May The Lord bless you and keep you; The Lord make his face shine on you and be gracious to you; The Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace! 🙏🏾 More Glory Luv and Let this year be full of Blessings, Health, and Success!"
Well, the NFL QB's PDA was quite a rebuttal to a cryptic TikTok video he posted on Christmas, where he alluded to letting go of someone disrupting one’s peace. Most fans thought that there was trouble in paradise but Watson's birthday tribute proved the speculations wrong.
On Jilly's 29th birthday, Deshaun Watson also gifted her a red crocodile Birkin bag and a Van Cleef & Arpels rose gold bracelet.
