The Atlanta Falcons grabbed former Minnesota Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins when he hit the free agency this year. After a 7-10 campaign in 2023, they coughed up good money to bring Cousins on board.
How much exactly? $180 million for four years, which included a $50 million signing bonus and $100 million guaranteed.
But it seems that their bet did not pay off. In the season opener on Sunday, the Falcons were up against the Pittsburgh Steelers, who had been facing QB issues of their own. However, the Falcons failed to take advantage of it and lost 18-10.
Fans were quick to slam QB Kirk Cousins on social media. He only completed 61.5% of his passes for 155 yards and one touchdown.

"I apologize to my friends and family. Kirk Cousin is trash," a fan said.
A fan wanted the entire season to be cancelled altogether after such a poor start.
"Cancel the season."
"PENIX WEEK 2 STARTER," another fan said that Michael Penix Jr. should be the starting QB in the next game.
Other fans also expressed disappointment at Cousins's debut with the Falcons.
"$180 million dollars for that bum?!?" one fan said he was overpaid for the performance that he put up.
"Bench Cousins, idgaf how much we paid him. He’s horrible and WONT get better as the season goes on. Penix or bust," another fan said.
Things are going to get more difficult for Kirk Cousins
It seems that Kirk Cousins has still not hit rock bottom. While the Steelers were a difficult team to play against, the Falcons' schedule shows more daunting opponents in the weeks ahead.
Next week, they face the Philadelphia Eagles, one of the strongest teams in the NFC and the 2022 season's NFC champions.
After that, they'll go head-to-head with the Kansas City Chiefs, the reigning Super Bowl Champions who are looking to secure a three-peat. The Chiefs and the Eagles are also coming off of victories in their opening games.
While it's all but certain that the Falcons will start 0-3 this year, could Kirk Cousins work a miracle and turn around the Falcons' situation?
