Patrick Mahomes' mother Randi defends Harrison Butker

Harrison Butker continues to find people who will at the very least not throw him under the bus for the "homemaker" comments he made during his commencement speech at Benedictine College. Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce have already called their fellow Kansas City Chief a good person despite disagreeing with his remarks.

Meanwhile, head coach Andy Reid and Roger Goodell have declared neutrality in the ongoing debate over whether he is right or wrong.

Now, Mahomes' mother, Randi, is the newest member of the pro-Butker camp. Reacting to the kicker's remarks at the Courage Under Fire Gala on Friday, she commented this on X:

An overview of Harrison Butker's remarks at Courage Under Fire Gala

When Harrison Butker spoke before the batch of graduates at Benedictine College almost two weeks ago, there was outrage from women, who thought he was perpetuating sexist beliefs. But in his first public appearance since that speech, he said that he was speaking from his faith.

While there was controversy and disbelief at first, he felt as if he had eventually been vindicated:

“Over the past few days, my beliefs, or what people think I believe, have been the focus of countless discussions around the globe. At the outset, many people expressed a shocking level of hate. But as the days went on, even those who disagreed with my viewpoints shared their support for my freedom of religion.
"It's a decision I've consciously made and one I do not regret at all."

To emphasize his point further, he made an allusion to the story of Daniel, a prophet in the Bible who was thrown into a lions den as punishment for spreading God's message but survived:

“Would I be so bold if the repercussion was what Daniel faced in being fed to lions? In reality, any courage I’ve shown will lead to some small suffering. And it will lead to some people maybe never liking me, but that could be God’s will.”

Meanwhile, the Kansas City government fired an anonymous employee in May after they revealed Harrison Butker's address in the wake of his initial comments on X. Related to the incdent, Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey promised to enforce the Missouri Human Rights Act and ensure that the citizens of Missouri would not be targeted for their religious beliefs.
