Jalen Hurts and the Philadelphia Eagles suffered a catastrophic meltdown in the final six games of the 2023 NFL season. After starting the season 10-1, they went 1-5 in their final six games of the regular season before losing 32-9 in the Super Wild Card round of the playoffs.
In the offseason, the team fired offensive coordinator Brian Johnson and defensive coordinator Sean Desai but retained head coach Nick Sirianni. They bounced back in 2024, finished the year 14-3, and will start the playoffs as the No. 2 seed in the NFC. However, they were handed a difficult opening bout, as they face the Green Bay Packers at home in the Wild Card round.
The Eagles are favored to win the game and advance to the divisional round. Analyst Chris Broussard believes Philadelphia is the better team and should beat Green Bay.

However, he warned Hurts that the key to his team's victory will be his performance and if he fails to deliver against the Packers, he could cost Sirianni his job. On Wednesday's episode of FS1's "First Things First", Broussard said:
"Jalen [Hurts] is in his fourth years are starter. Jalen has already been to the Super Bowl and played well... Last year they had this meltdown of a season that a lot of people put on Jalen Hurts. So this year he's got his own wide receivers questioning his passing ability. If he loses his game, his coach might get fired."
Chris Broussard believes Jalen Hurts will be under heavy pressure
Broussard added that Jalen Hurts has the tools at his disposal to lead the Eagles to a deep playoff run. The analyst claimed that if Philadelphia falls at the first hurdle in the playoffs, Sirianni would be on the hot seat and the franchise will wonder whether they should look to upgrade at quarterback.
"When you look at that team, the defense is great, the receivers are great, the running back is great, the O-line is great. The quarterback's the only one that's not great. He's good. He's not great. If they lose, people going to be pointing at Jalen," he added.
Hurts not only has to deal with the pressure of leading the team but also has to dust off the cobwebs after spending two weeks in concussion protocol. It remains to be seen whether he'd rise to the challenge or crumble like last season.
