NFL fans had a lot to say about Sean Payton after the Buffalo Bills demolished the Denver Broncos in the wild-card game on Sunday. The veteran coach was under fire after the 31-7 loss at Highmark Stadium.
Ryan Michael, an analyst for the Pro Football Hall of Fame, criticized Payton's play-calling against the Bills on X (formerly Twitter).
"#SeanPayton’s play-calling today has been really, really bad. Difficult to watch," Michael wrote on Sunday.

Fans joined the conversation and went off against Payton for his decisions in a win-or-go-home matchup.
"Most disappointed I’ve been with him during his entire tenure. How can you be so unaware? We are reaching Ryan Day level out-of-touch," one fan questioned.
"He kept calling for running plays over and over again when they were averaging like 3 yards per carry," another fan said.
"His play calling has been the most frustrating to watch all year against playoff teams, and when games matter the most," another fan wrote.
Other people said the bad play-calling has been common for Payton all season long. Some added that using Troy Franklin was a bad call, given the wide receiver's inconsistent season.
"We really have to move away from this binary way of thinking. Bad result = bad play-calling, good result = good play-calling is very lazy. Would love to hear what the issue is with these calls," one fan wrote.
"Not today. All season," one fan said.
Sean Payton, Broncos had no answer for Buffalo Bills
Despite scoring the first touchdown of the game with a 43-yard touchdown pass by Bo Nix, the Broncos were unable to add more points to the scoreboard. The Bills only scored three points in the first quarter but added seven in the second, 11 in the third and 10 in the fourth, respectively, to secure the 31-7 win over Denver.
Nix completed 13 of 22 pass attempts for 144 yards and one touchdown, a poor performance compared to Josh Allen's 20 completions on 26 attempts for 272 yards and two touchdowns.
Sean Payton led the Broncos to the postseason for the first time in 10 years, but his performance against the Bills raised plenty of eyebrows. With Nix leading the way, this team might compete for several years.
