How long is Breece Hall out for? Latest injury update for New York Jets' running back

New York Jets v Denver Broncos
Breece Hall of the New York Jets is carted off the field after an injury

After tearing his anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in the New York Jets' 16-9 victory over the Denver Broncos in October, Breece Hall's impressive rookie campaign came to an end.

During the second quarter, Hall seemed to stumble after being stopped by Broncos defenders Jonas Griffith and Patrick Surtain II close the New York Jets' sidelines. He tried to get into the dressing room after being carried off the field by the club's medical staff but was ultimately carted out of the stadium.

While everyone heals differently, a nine-month recovery following an ACL and meniscus tear is on the hopeful end of the range. Therefore, don't expect Hall to be fit for Week 1 of the upcoming season.

For a young player who appeared to be headed for prominence, this is a devastating and distressing situation. Both the Jets and the larger football community have suffered a loss.

When an NFL player sustains an ACL tear, how long does it take for them to recover?

An ACL tear normally requires nine to twelve months to heal. The course of treatment will depend on how severely the ACL is damaged. Rest and rehabilitation activities may be necessary for some injuries to gain back strength and balance. Surgery to repair or rebuild the torn ligament is necessary for more serious injuries, followed by rehabilitation.

For footballers, healing after an ACL injury takes about nine months. Before an athlete can resume full activity and play ball, it may take up to 12 months.

Breece Hall's season stats

The talented Breece Hall played in seven games, accumulating 681 yards and five touchdowns at a 6.9-yard per-touch average. Hall was having an excellent debut campaign and was in the running for the Rookie of the Year award before getting hurt. He has 609 scrimmage yards and four touchdowns overall entering Week 7. He played a significant offensive role for the New York Jets.

In Week 6's victory over the Green Bay Packers, Hall rushed for 116 yards and a score after totaling 197 yards the week before against the Miami Dolphins.

Breece Hall had 76 rushes for 391 yards, three touchdowns, and 19 receptions for 218 yards going into that game against the New York Jets.

Breece Hall cannot be replaced, even with a very competent alternative in Michael Carter. Breece Hall, meanwhile, will need time to rehabilitate and hopes to make a comeback in 2023.
