Dallas Goedert Injury update, return status: How long is the Eagles TE out?

Dallas Goedert is the starting tight end for the Philadelphia Eagles. Unfortunately, he sustained a shoulder injury in a game against the Washington Commanders, the first game the Eagles lost in the 2022 NFL season.

The injury has a typical four-week recovery time frame, so barring unforeseen circumstances, Goedert should be as fit as a fiddle for the Eagles' playoff run.

When will Dallas Goedert return?

Dallas Goedert and the Philadelphia Eagles hope the star tight end will return from injured reserve and play in a Dec. 18 game against the Bears in Week 15.

Thankfully the Eagles have racked up a league-best record to start the season, putting them in a great position for the matches that Goedert will miss.

Jack Stoll, Grant Calcaterra and Tyree Jackson might have to step up in his absence. All three players have their strengths and weaknesses, but it won't be inaccurate to state that Goedert's quality outweighs theirs.

Furthermore, the loss of Goedert should not slow down the Eagles too much, as the team is known to operate a run-heavy offense, merely utilizing their receiving corps.

Dallas Goedert Timeline

The Philadelphia Eagles drafted Goedert as the 49th overall pick in the second round of the 2018 NFL Draft. Following the draft, he played backup tight end for Pro Bowler Zach Ertz for the first three and a half seasons of his career, with the 2022 NFL season being his first true season as a starter.

Goedert repaid the Eagles' faith in him, as the year five Pro has had a career year this season. He has racked up a stat line of 544 receiving yards, 43 receptions, and three receiving touchdowns in the first nine games of his season.

This stat line is already right up there with his career-best totals across the board, and it sees him prove that he's more than a backup for Ertz.

For the duration of his NFL career, Goedert has totaled 236 receptions, 2,839 receiving yards, and 19 touchdowns in 66 regular season games.
