The Kansas City Chiefs made a bold move on Thursday when they acquired receiver Kadarius Toney from the New York Giants. The 23-year-old is ready to suit up for his new team in their next game, contrary to reports suggesting that he is injured.

Toney hasn't played in the NFL since Week 2 following a hamstring injury. However, in a now-deleted Twitter message, Toney claimed that he's not injured despite being listed on the Giants' injury report for the past few weeks.

Kadarius Toney reportedly picked up a hamstring injury on his right leg during training camp before the 2022 NFL season began. However, the then-Giants receiver tweaked the same hamstring in Week 2 against the Carolina Panthers.

Although Toney looked set to make a strong comeback in Week 4, he was dealt another setback when he pulled a hamstring on his left leg in training. But since being traded to the Chiefs earlier this week, Toney has led many to believe that he faked his injury.

Although Toney has grabbed headlines following his trade to Kansas City, he won't debut for them immediately as the Chiefs have a bye this week. Hence, even if he is injured, Toney has extra time to recover and get back to full fitness when the Chiefs take on the Tennesee Titans in Week 9.

Toney is currently listed as 'questionable' on the Chiefs roster.

Kadarius Toney stats and fantasy outlook

Toney recorded a mere 23 rushing yards and two receiving yards in his two games for the Giants earlier this season. In total, he added just 2.3 fantasy points.

Toney is yet to score a touchdown this season and will be eager to impress for his new franchise. However, the receiver may take some time to acclimatize to his new surroundings in Kansas City. We advise you not to pick him for your fantasy team directly. Instead, here are some other top receivers in the league that you can pick for your fantasy team:

  • Tyreek Hill
  • Davante Adams
  • Cooper Kupp
  • Amari Cooper
  • Robert Woods
  • Courtland Sutton
