On February 1, 2022, former NFL player Stanley Wilson Jr. passed away at the Twin Towers Correctional Facility. Arrested for trespassing in August last year, Wilson was reported to be affected by chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE) symptoms. However, recent reports shed more light on his death.

Furthermore, he was apparently also in handcuffs when he died.

"There were fresh wounds to his forehead, which appear to have been caused by a shoe," Carpenter explained.

TMZ Sports added that his mother revealed that Wilson had also fallen out of his chair before he died.

"Due to his mental illness, the county found him not able to stand trial, not able to provide assistance to counsel, and so they put him in the [Twin Towers Correctional Facility] since August of 2022," Carpenter said.

The family is demanding $45 million through the lawsuit.

Wilson Sr., also an NFL player in the 1980s, stated that it has been difficult to bury his own child. The family referred to Stanley Wilson Jr. as a 'fun' and 'loving' individual, who ended up changing towards the end.

There has been no further comment from the authorities about Wilson's death. Considering the lawsuit and litigation, one can expect court proceedings or a settlement in the future.

What happened to Stanley Wilson Jr's NFL career with the Lions?

Attending the Bishop Montgomery High School in Torrance, California, Wilson was drafted by the Detroit Lions during the 2005 NFL Draft. Playing three seasons with the team, the cornerback finished with 64 solo tackles and eight passes defended.

Unfortunately, his career ended with a Achilles injury as the 2008 season began.

As his career ended, Wilson was involved in legal trouble. In 2016, he was charged with attempted burglary after being shot in the abdomen. This was after he tried to break into a Portland, Oregon residence while naked.

In 2017, the former Lions cornerback was called out for strolling naked in Portland.

That same year, Wilson was reportedly arrested for a third time for another break-in attempt. He was moved to the Metropolitan State Hospital in Los Angeles County after his vandalism arrest in 2022.

As he was unfit for the trial, Stanley Wilson had to be moved to the hospital.
