Eagles fans taken by surprise over Jahan Dotson trade

The Philadelphia Eagles and Washington Commanders made a surprising trade on Thursday. The Eagles acquired wide receiver Jahan Dotson from their divisional rival.

Philadelphia traded a 2025 third-round pick and two seventh-round picks in exchange for Dotson and a fifth-round pick. Dotson is a former first-round pick, but he has struggled and has now been traded. NFL fans shared their reaction to the news.

"Howie Roseman does it again. Unbelievable," a fan added.

"Eagles can't keep getting away with this," a fan wrote.

Dotson was drafted in the first round in the 2022 NFL draft and was rumored to be a potential cut candidate.

"What a FLEECE. Howie cooking per usual," a fan wrote.
"Lot of pressure on the Eagles offense especially this year to put up or shut up this season with all these weapons..," a fan added.

Fans are surprised that Washington opted to move Dotson to a division rival.

"There is no team that actually has it as easy as the eagles they keep scamming this dumbass franchise and they in division," a fan wrote.
"Eagles get their third receiver," a fan added.

Dotson will be the Eagles' third receiver behind DeVonta Smith and AJ Brown.

Eagles give DeVonta Smith an extension

The Philadelphia Eagles have a dynamic one-two punch at receiver with Smith and Brown.

In April, Smith got an extension from the Eagles that keeps him under control through 2028.

"You can't be counting the pockets of others," Smith said, via CBS. "I'm where I want to be. This is where I wanted to be. At the end of the day, it was still life-changing for me. Those guys that got their deals, they deserve it. Great players and great people. At the end of the day, we're all blessed."

Smith also believes the Eagles' offense has the chance to be one of the best in the NFL.

"I think it's going to be great," Smith said. "Get a new style of offense around, let guys not have more freedom but be able to do things that we weren't allowed to do — moving guys around and things like that. And overall, it's always nice to have a fresh start."

Philadelphia will open its season in Brazil on Sept. 6 against the Green Bay Packers.
