Former NFL quarterback and Super Bowl champion Chase Daniel pointed out observations about Jalen Hurts' passing-game limitations. While acknowledging Hurts' strengths, Daniel highlighted specific areas where the Eagles quarterback faces warranted criticism.
Hurts, the Eagles' five-year, $255 million franchise quarterback, guided the team to consecutive 14-3 seasons. His Eagles will feature in Sunday's Divisional Round playoff matchup against the Los Angeles Rams at Lincoln Financial Field.
Speaking on "The Facility" show with Kay Adams on Thursday, Daniel assessed Hurts' playing style through the lens of a former NFL quarterback;
"It can be harsh, but at sometimes it's warranted when he doesn't do the things they ask him to do," Daniel said. "I actually think he's playing extremely well for the stuff that they're asking him to do. I'm not a big Jalen Hurts hater. I just want to see him let go of football in 50-50 ball situations."

The timing resonates as Jalen Hurts comes off an uneven wild-card showing against Green Bay. He started strong with six straight completions but then went seven consecutive attempts without a completion. Still, he delivered when it mattered most, completing three straight passes for 61 yards on the game-winning drive.
Chase Daniels critiques Jalen Hurts' passing game
Daniel specifically addressed Jalen Hurts' approach to complex passing concepts.
"In my opinion, Jalen Hurts has always been somewhat a limited passer when it comes to these extremely crazy concepts," Daniel added. "But he also throws a really good deep ball. I don't think you want Jalen Hurts reading these extremely complicated route concepts. At times, it slows him down."
Hurts maintains his focus on winning above statistical achievements.
"Every game is different," Hurts said Wednesday. "My role in each game will be different. And the approach in each game is different. You just want to go out there and do your job and take advantage of opportunities."
The numbers show an interesting pattern. Despite attempting 99 fewer passes this season than in 2022, Hurts recorded a career-high 103.7 passer rating. He enters Sunday's game with three consecutive postseason outings above 100 passer rating.
When Hurts starts against the Rams, he will become only the 10th quarterback in NFL history to start seven playoff games before the age of 27. His playoff history includes outstanding performances, like as his Super Bowl appearance a few years ago. 304 passing yards and 70 rushing yards in a 38-35 loss to Kansas City.
With a victory on Sunday, Hurts would join Donovan McNabb as only the second Eagles quarterback to reach multiple NFC Championship Games. More significantly, he'd become the 13th quarterback to achieve this milestone before age 27.
