Michael Irvin, even in retirement, loves the Dallas Cowboys. After all, he played his entire career in Dallas, so his indignation at the franchise's latest coaching decision had him weeping.
On Friday, the Cowboys announced that offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer would be promoted to head coach. Speaking on his YouTube channel on Saturday, the Hall of Fame wide receiver tearfully groaned at the hiring, saying:
"I hope and pray somehow, someway, somebody find some damn man and they damn heart and stand up and say, we will represent the star the right way. We don't give a damn who is coaching. We guarantee we're gonna win and we're gonna get to a championship game. But damn it, I doubt it. I'm so f*cking hurt."
He continued:

"Imma just say this. All you jokers, man, everybody tries to put everything on Jerry Jones all the time. And I try to defend Jerry. This one I will not defend. I don't like this call."
Schottenheimer will have his first press conference as head coach on Monday. As for his coaching staff, former Chicago Bears head coach Matt Eberflus has emerged as the leading candidate to replace Mike Zimmer, whose contract expired after the season.
Michael Irvin had voiced concerns over Cowboys hiring Brian Schottenheimer before
This is, however, not Irvin’s first time lamenting such a decision. On Fox Sports' SPEAK, the former Dallas Cowboys All-Pro gave a resounding “no” when asked whether Brian Schottenheimer was the right head coaching fit, then expounded on his stance:
"You need the right coach to bring the best out of the team, but I do believe (at) the point in the juncture, that you need the right coach to raise the morale… My morale is down. I know their morale is down. So you know, hopefully, they’re making the decisions, understanding all sides of it. We need the right coach on and off the football field."
He also vouched for his old teammate and fellow Hall of Famer Deion Sanders to be hired instead, calling the former cornerback “the right guy for the job” - someone who could “turn this thing around and boost the morale.”
