"I was a monster on court": When Patrick Mahomes boasted about his basketball prowess

Patrick Mahomes is a star on the football field and was a talented baseball player as well up until college. When he was younger though, he also played youth basketball.

In August 2019, Patrick Mahomes and his now-wife Brittany Mahomes did a segment for Bleacher Report where they reflected on their younger days by looking at photos on their Google Nest Hub. There were photos of the couple at their high school prom as well as Halloween costumes during their college days.

At one point, Brittany swiped through the photos and came across a photo of a young Patrick Mahomes in his basketball uniform. The three-time Super Bowl winning quarterback joked that he was a 'monster' on the basketball court and played with kids who were older than him.

Mahomes said:

"That's back in my baller days. I was a monster on the court. I was probably playing up with, like, kids two years older than me."

The couple then came across a video of Mahomes attempting to throw a football at a drone and ended up shattering the drone.

Patrick Mahomes insisted he didn't utilize loophole to make a play vs. 49ers

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes is defending a move he made in Week 7 vs. the San Francisco 49ers. The quarterback was accused of running along the sidelines in order to keep the San Francisco 49ers defense from tackling him to prevent a possible late call penalty. Mahomes picked up 33 yards on the run and the Chiefs were then able to score on a 1-yard play.

Patrick Mahomes spoke to reporters on Wednesday and said that he didn't plan to run along the sidelines and that he never intended to "fake" someone out by doing so.

"I didn't believe on that play right there I was really showing like I was going to go out of bounds. Don't want to ever put a defender in a bad spot. I know that we are all competing. When I go out of bounds, I'm going to go out of bounds, I'm not going to try to fake a guy out by using a loophole in the rules."

The Kansas City Chiefs defeated the San Francisco 49ers, 28-18 in the Super Bowl LVIII rematch. Patrick Mahomes is now 5-0 against the 49ers so far in his career.
