Justin Herbert and the Los Angeles Chargers' playoff journey ended at the first hurdle as they suffered a shock 32-12 loss to the Houston Texans at NRG Stadium in the postseason opener. The visitors came into the game as the favorites but were poor on both sides of the ball, which cost them the win.
Herbert and the offense were especially underwhelming as they could muster only 261 yards of offense. The quarterback had one of the worst games of his career. He completed only 14 of his 32 pass attempts for 242 yards with one touchdown and a horrendous four interceptions.
Fox Sports analyst Emmanuel Acho, a noted Herbert critic, was as ecstatic as Texans fans about the Chargers quarterback's dismal display. He posted:
"How I’m watching the whole world realize Justin Herbert is a Social Media Quarterback."

His victory lap didn't end after one post. He reminded everyone that he had been claiming for years that Herbert was more flash than substance:
"I was never wrong about Justin Herbert. I was only first. I’ve never said Justin Herbert was bad, he’s not. I’ve only said that he was overrated and over praised. Both of which have never been more obviously true. #SocialMediaQuarterback"
Justin Herbert playoff record: QB's postseason woes continue
This game was only the second playoff outing of Justin Herbert's career. His first, a wildcard game against the Jacksonville Jaguars in the 2022 playoffs, was arguably the most gutwrenching loss in playoff history.
Herbert and the Chargers led 27-0 midway through the second quarter but were outscored 31-3 the rest of the way and lost 31-30. It's the largest blown lead in franchise history and was the first playoff game where a team that won the turnover battle by a margin of five or more was on the losing side.
Herbert did not have an outing as dismal as the one against the Texans on Saturday. He finished that game with 273 yards and one touchdown pass with no interceptions. However, much like the game in Houston, he completely disappeared in the second half against the Jaguars and couldn't help his defense stay off the field.
Five years into his career, Herbert's playoff record is 0-2 but he could have won both games had he played better.
