Lisa Guerrero is a former NFL sideline reporter for ABC's "Monday Night Football." She was fired from the network after just one season, in 2003, and she never returned to sports journalism.

In Guerrero's memoir, "Warrior: My Path to Being Brave," which was published early last month, she detailed her horrific experience working for "Monday Night Football."

In the book, she discussed the toxic work environment at the network, where she was made uncomfortable by her employees and the people she worked around.

She also recalled having a miscarriage on-air.

“I thought, ‘Oh, I got my period.' And then I remembered I was pregnant, Guerrero said via People magazine. "I was having a miscarriage! I could feel blood leaking. I was dizzy and nauseated but reminded myself to stand up straight. The pain was excruciating. I heard myself mispronounce a player’s name and knew I’d hear about it later.”

She said she was criticized for poor posture and even mispronouncing a player's name.

In an exclusive interview about her memoir with The Score, Guerrero said:

"I write about in the book how I couldn't tell my friends what was happening to me. I was so ashamed and so humiliated by the criticism and the slut-shaming and the verbal abuse and all that I endured that season. It made it impossible for me to share that grief with other people.
"I didn't want to burden anyone with that, and I didn't want to tell my dad about it, because I didn't want him to worry about me. And so they thought I was living this perfect life in a dream job, getting married to this handsome athlete, living in Malibu, living the dream – when in fact, I was in pain every day, and it was very lonely."

Lisa Guerrero claims she is a sports fan despite her experience with "Monday Night Football"

While her one-year stint with "Monday Night Football" was considered a "flop," Guerrero never returned to the sports scene again. She did, however, have a successful career with "Inside Edition" as an investigative journalist and did some work in the acting industry.

Despite her time in sports journalism, Guerrero said that she has started watching sports again and is still a sports fan.

"Now, I'm a huge sports fan again," Guerrero said. "Yes, it took me a minute. I'm not gonna lie. But, yeah, I enjoy sports now. I love going to a Dodgers game, just having a beer and a hot dog and cheering on my teams.
"My dad and I did just recently watch NFL games together. We'll call each other after games and say, "Can you believe that call? What about that injury?"

Guerrero has won over 35 national journalism awards and honors since becoming "Inside Edition's" chief investigative correspondent.
