Kirk Cousins will return to where his NFL career began on Sunday as the Falcons matchup against the Commanders. Although Cousins wouldn't be getting the start, his wife, Julie, and their sons Cooper and Turner spent time this weekend in the Washington D.C. area.
On her Instagram Story on Sunday, Julie Cousins showed where she and her sons stayed, the Salamander Resort and Spa, which she called one of their favorite places. She gave a glimpse outside the resort, which remained decorated for the holidays.
"Stayed at one of our favorite spots."-Julie Cousins wrote on Instagram.

Julie Cousins then shared a glimpse of the townhome she and Kirk Cousins rented for four years after they got married. She reminisced about their time there and even the trials and tribulations they faced as a couple. Julie also mentioned that their first child, Cooper, was born while they were living there.
Kirk Cousins was drafted by the then-Washington Redskins in the fourth round of the 2012 NFL draft. He played six seasons for Washington before leaving for Minnesota.
"After we were married, we rented this townhouse from Chris Samuels for 4 years!!! Fun to drive by and remember all we went through in that home...we learned how to be married, got benched and also became the starter, fostered 7 dogs, hosted gatherings and guests, dealt with deaths in the family and miscarriages and welcomed Cooper into the world! It was a full 4 years!"-Julie Cousins shared.
Ahead of the trip, Julie Cousins expressed her excitement to return to the Ashburn, Virginia area, which is located just outside of the Washington D.C. area.
"DC Bound!!! Haven't been back to Ashburn, VA since we moved 7 years ago! Cannot wait to go down memory lane with Cooper (who was born here)."-Julie said in a since expired Instagram Story.
The Atlanta Falcons quarterback's wife also mentioned that although she still loved their time in D.C., she won't be cheering for them on Sunday.
Kirk Cousins and wife Julie returned to Minnesota for first time after leaving Vikings
This weekend's trip to the Washington D.C. area isn't the first time Kirk Cousins has faced one of his former teams this season. On Dec. 8, the Atlanta Falcons traveled to face the Minnesota Vikings which was Kirk Cousins' first trip back to Minneapolis since he departed in March.
His wife, Julie Cousins, shared photos of their return to Minnesota on Dec. 8, which included a family photo of the sidelines of U.S. Bank Stadium.
"Overwhelmed with gratitude after 3 days back in Minnesota…Thank you to everyone who welcomed us and made us feel special!"-Julie wrote on Instagram
After leaving Washington, Kirk Cousins signed with the Minnesota Vikings in March 2018. He spent six seasons with the Vikings, and in his final season in 2023, he suffered an Achilles injury.
