Matthew Stafford saved the day for wife Kelly and their family's 'Elf'
This time of year is hectic for parents of young children, and the "Elf of a Shelf" tradition has only added to the chaos. Matthew Stafford and his wife Kelly have an Elf named "Sugar Plum" who visits their home each holiday season. Each night, the Staffords move the elf to a new location in their home and their daughters search for the elf and their adventures each morning.
On Dec. 5, Kelly Stafford revealed on her "The Morning After" podcast that a date night with the Los Angeles Rams quarterback briefly led her to lose the elf.
“We went on our date night. We came home. I was like, ‘I gotta move Sugar Plum,’ but I was also a little high," Kelly said. "Me and Matthew had some cocktails. I had had some weed. And you know, we were in a good place. Maybe not to move Sugar Plum, though.”
She then went on to say the following day, she realized she hadn't moved Sugar Plum and couldn't find the elf. It was then that Matthew Stafford told her that he had moved the elf.
Sawyer comes in this morning and I’m going, ‘Shit. Sugar Plum. We didn’t move her. I looked at Matthew. I was like, ‘Stay here.’ I run downstairs to the spot where she was the day before and she’s not there," she added.
"I was like, ‘Either this elf is real and f—ing moved itself, or I moved it and don’t remember. I looked at Matthew and go, ‘Do you remember moving the elf? He looked at me dead and goes, ‘Yes, I moved the elf.’”-Kelly said on the "Morning After" podcast.
Luckily, Sugar Plum had been moved and their daughters didn't know anything had happened.
