Washington Commanders defensive back Mike Sainristil and his girlfriend Seliana Carvalho celebrated a big milestone this week: becoming parents. The former Michigan Wolverines standout shared the news of their daughter, Summer Elizabeth's birth in a heartfelt post on Instagram.
In Sainristil's touching caption, he stated his gratitude to Carvalho for her strength during the last nine months.
"For the last 9 months, I watched @seliana_carvalho THRIVE through this pregnancy. Some days much brighter than others, but baby you did the damn thing. You were strong. You were powerful. I am truly thankful for what I’ve watched you overcome."-via Instagram

The couple announced the news that they were expecting their first child in early December 2023. Weeks later the defensive back helped the Wolverines win their first title since 1997.

The Washington Commanders drafted Mike Sainristil with the 50th overall selection in the 2024 NFL Draft. The defensive back was a key member of the Wolverines' defense through the team's undefeated 2023 NFL season and then title run.
Sainristil also helped clinch Michigan's win over Washington with an interception of quarterback Michael Penix Jr.
After he saw his NFL dreams realized, Sainristil's girlfriend, Seliana Carvalho shared a touching post on Instagram. She stated how proud she was of him and how his hard work paid off.

Mike Sainristil signed his rookie contract with the Washington Commanders in early June 2024, a four-year contract worth $7.544 million. Now, with three instead of two members in his family, he is well secured financially.
