Aaron Rodgers is not in the best of moods these days. With the Green Bay Packers falling to 3-5 after Week 8 and their playoff chances looking extremely bleak, no wonder he has been in the news for all the wrong reasons.
There have been questions about his accuracy and deep throws. He has been called out for berating his teammates on the field multiple times. But if there is one thing certainly not expected to improve his mood, it is questions about his height.
Aaron Rodgers is famously touchy when it comes to the topic of his height. He measured in at 6'2", which is not something a layman would ever consider short. But for quarterbacks, height is considered an advantage.
He once berated a fan who met him and commented on how Aaron Rodgers does not look as big in person as one expects. Rodgers shot back with a reply saying:

"That's one of the more ridiculous comments that could be thrown at me is that. Especially coming from somebody who's 5'7"."
So why is a four-time NFL MVP so sensitive when it comes to his height? It has something to do with being overlooked before in his life. We give the details below.
Aaron Rodgers' height nearly made him quit football
Aaron Rodgers was 5'11" when he made it out of high school in 2001. He was passed by all universities and instead had to go to community college to pursue his dream of playing professional football.
He played at Butte (Community) College in 2002 and led them to a 10-1 record. There, he was spotted by the California Golden Bears and transferred to the University of California, Berkeley, a year later.
From there, of course, he was selected in the 2005 NFL Draft by the Green Bay Packers. He was passed over there also by the San Francisco 49ers, the team based near where he lived his entire life and also the one he supported. They had the overall first pick that year and chose Alex Smith out of Utah instead.
Such rejections have always made Aaron Rodgers stronger, but there is a strong chance that he will still remember that he nearly had to quit football because of his height.
That is why he has a chip on his shoulder about even being perceived as someone of a short height. In reality, though, his stature has been well cemented by his NFL career so far. Not bad for a small-town boy from California who was once passed for his height but is now a surefire future Hall-of-Famer.
