Andy Reid is on the edge of greatness, but he could also be on the edge of the end of his NFL career. At least, the head coach didn't appear to rule it out during the leadup to his upcoming showdown against Jalen Hurts. According to Jay Glazer (via Dov Kleiman on Twitter), the head coach viewed the potential move as a "decision" he'll "need to make."

This is the second retirement tease from a competing head coach in the Super Bowl in as many years. Last year, Sean McVay was on the retirement radar but ultimately decided to return to the fold. But for the 64-year-old head coach, retirement is staring him in the face.

Of course, there is no law pushing him away from the field if he doesn't want to hang up the headset just yet. Patriots head coach Bill Belichick is still going strong as he nears 71. If Reid wants to coach well into Mahomes' 30s, no one is stopping him.

Either way, the coach appears set for a period of introspection following today's game. The retirement quandry is not unique to just the head coach either. Tom Brady hung up the helmet for the last time to kick off the month and Aaron Rodgers is openly considering all options as to what he does next.

In recent years, the league has seen some of the biggest names in the game surrender to the passage of time. Ben Roethlisberger, Drew Brees, Philip Rivers, and Sean Payton have walked away from the game.

Of course, Payton is back at work once again while Drew Brees has stayed in the media game.

However, the prime era of the Manning brothers, Brady, and other big names of the past two decades have left the field in the hands of the next generation. Will Andy Reid follow suit?
