In November 2022, Britt Reid, a former Kansas City Chiefs coach and the son of Super Bowl winner Andy Reid, was sentenced to three years after pleading guilty to a felony DWI charge. Britt, who was unemployed following his coaching stint with Linebackers and Outside Linebackers, was convicted after causing a nasty car crash in early 2021.
The crash seriously injured five-year-old Ariel Young, who suffered a traumatic brain injury and was in a coma for 11 days. The crash occurred on February 4, 2021, due to an intoxicated Britt Reid.
When officers arrived, Reid admitted to drunk driving but said that he did not see the vehicles, as their lights were turned off. Witnesses and authorities said Reid was going 18 mph over the posted speed limit of 65, and he had a blood alcohol content of .113, five points over the legal limit.
Reid entered a guilty plea in the case and was notably distraught about the harm he caused all the parties involved. He was sentenced to three years in prison on November 1, 2022.

Who is Britt Reid?
Britt Reid is a former high school football player and a career coach. He's the son of Super Bowl-winning coach Andy Reid, and since 2009, he has worked with his father in various roles. His first job in the NFL was as a training camp coordinator intern for the Philadelphia Eagles. He performed well enough there and joined the Kansas City Chiefs as a Defensive Quality Control Coach in 2013.
Britt Reid has never been in the limelight in his professional coaching career, but he has served as a trusty assistant for his father. He has been defensive quality control coach, assistant defensive line coach, defensive line coach, and linebackers/outside linebackers coach. Unfortunately for Britt, his contract was not renewed following his legal troubles in his final years on the Chiefs' coaching staff.
What are the legal troubles of Britt Reid?
Britt Reid has always been close to trouble in his adult life, as it doesn't seem coach Andy Reid's son can learn from his mistakes.
First, in 2007, he was sentenced to 8 to 23 months in jail alongside his brother Garrett Reid for running a mini drug empire from his father's house. As if that wasn't enough, he was involved in a road rage incident where he flashed a firearm at a fellow road user. Thankfully for the Reid household, the lawsuit was settled seven years later. That was all before the ill-fated car crash on February 4, 2021.
Whether his three-year prison sentence will set the younger Reid on the right path remains to be seen. His destructive behavior has begun to affect others outside his family and inner circle, though.
