As the XFL continues in the background, Cam Newton made it abundantly clear that he was serious about playing once again when he performed at a college pro day earlier this month. However, pundits cast doubt on his ability to win over any teams in the NFL. That said, one former NFL punter has attempted to lure over the quarterback to the ongoing spring league.

Taking to Twitter, former Broncos punter Marquette King tagged the former Panthers quarterback, the league, and the Arlington Renegades. Here's how he put his pitch:

"We have 4 games left! At least come get the reps!"

The solicitation comes on the heels of the Renegades' move to cut ties with Kyle Sloter. According to XFL News Hub, Sloter went 2-2 in his time with the team, throwing for one touchdown and four interceptions.

With only four games left in the season, some who doubted its longevity could be in danger of being proved wrong. Heading into the season, fans who watched the league in 2020 and the AAF before that were treated to leagues that ended in the middle of the season.

With no championship in back-to-back attempts at getting a high-profile spring league together, many fans cast doubt on whether the league could last even one full season. However, with only a handful of games remaining, the league is inching closer to outlasting its predecessors and getting fans playoff football at the end of April.

The scheduling of the playoffs coincides closely with the NFL Draft. The Draft takes place from April 27 until April 29. Meanwhile, the XFL playoffs will run that weekend from April 29 until April 30. Hardcore football fans will have four days of football action to watch in a far cry from previous years.
