The Baltimore Ravens just acquired wide receiver Diontae Johnson from the Carolina Panthers. Ian Rapoport took to X (formerly, Twitter) to break the news about the blockbuster trade.

The Chiefs may have been making big moves to ensure their three-peat, but the Ravens don't want to fall behind. With Johnson on the roster, their already supercharged offense just got better.

But Carolina Panthers fans weren't happy with their team giving away a major offensive weapon to the Ravens. One fan blasted the Panthers for making the trade and asked:

"WHAT THE FUCK?? Is Carolina stupid as fuck? OMG"

Another fan couldn't believe his eyes that the Panthers were getting a fifth-round pick and giving away their sixth in 2025 for Diontae.

"Please check again Ian. No way that's all we got"

Other fans also joined in and expressed their disappointment and astonishment at the essentially "free" trade.

"For free lmao" one fan said that the Ravens were getting Johnson for free.
"Absolute steal for Baltimore" another fan said that it was really nice deal for the Ravens, but not so for the Panthers.
"Panthers, for the 700th time, get fleeced in a trade… this season will be atrocious. Leggette, Mingo, and Coker are not started yet…" another fan was disappointed at the organization for making such a terrible trade.
"So the Panthers gave up Diontae Johnson to move up like 10 spots in the draft?" another fan sarcastically said that the Panthers got no meaningful boost in the draft after trading Johnson.

What did Ravens give up in Diontae Johnson trade?

There's no doubt that the trade was an absolute steal for the Ravens. The team just had to give up their fifth-round pick in the NFL Draft 2025.

What is Diontae Johnson's salary in 2024?

This year, the wideout is set to make $3,888,890 this year from Baltimore. However, he also has cap hits across two other teams, as reported by Spotrac:

What's more, the Panthers will be paying down some of his salary, but the Ravens will still have to pay him $625,000 for the rest of the year.

What the Baltimore Ravens’ depth chart looks like after the Diontae Johnson trade

Considering the Ravens gave up essentially nothing in the trade, there is nothing but upside as they look to go toe-to-toe with the Kansas City Chiefs.

Johnson will now settle into the WR2 role in a loaded Ravens offense behind Zay Flowers. The Ravens can also call upon the services of Rashod Bateman and Nelson Agholor, alongside tight ends like Mark Andrews, Isaiah Likely and Charlie Kolar.

Johnson’s arrival, however, opens up several avenues for offensive coordinator Todd Monken, who will have plenty of options in the second half of the season.
