The Indianapolis Colts shocked the world when they fired Frank Reich and hired Jeff Saturday to be the interim head coach. Ordinarily, an assistant coach currently on the staff gets promoted to that role, but Saturday was an ESPN analyst. In fact, he's never had any coaching experience at the NFL level.
His friend and colleague Dan Orlovsky, who also works for ESPN, was asked by Dan Patrick whether or not he was approached about a job with Saturday. The Colts seem intent on bringing in former NFL players to their current staff, and Orlovsky was a quarterback for 12 seasons. One of those seasons was in Indianapolis.

On the Dan Patrick Show, Orlovsky revealed whether the new Colts interim head coach had asked him about a job:

"Not directly, no... Jeff and I have had conversations about coaching. We've had some really good in-depth conversations of what coaching looks like, who are the good ones, who are the bad ones, my interest level in it, where I am in the present moment."
He continued:
"So I think that Jeff was gathering... kind of a feel and information without revealing some of the stuff that was going on behind the scenes. I texted with him yesterday, 'Hey, man, good luck, go crush it.' We decided to touch base later, but no, he did not directly offer me anything."

Orlovsky stopped short of denying that he might ever be on Saturday's or anyone else's coaching staff in the NFL. However, as of now, he's not been approached to join the new Colts regime.
Will Jeff Saturday be the Indianapolis Colts' coach next season?
Many were surprised by the move Indianapolis made. Firing Reich wasn't a surprise, but replacing him with someone who'd never coached past high school was.
Hiring someone directly from the media was a surprise, too. All of that is working against Saturday in the public eye at present. He might be a stellar coach, but unless he proves it quickly, he's probably not going to be there next year.
Peyton Manning and others, not including Orlovsky, are currently favored to become the next coach, while Saturday is not.
