Is Deebo Samuel playing tonight? Latest update on 49ers WR for Week 7 MNF vs Vikings

49ers Injuries
Deebo Samuel is not playing tonight against the Vikings.

Due to a hairline fracture he sustained to his shoulder in Week 6, San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel won't play his team's next two games.

The receiver's injury's severity was assessed by a scan, according to Kyle Shanahan, coach of San Francisco. Before missing a second game next week against the Cincinnati Bengals, Samuel will miss the Week 7 game against the Minnesota Vikings on Monday night.

Early in the Niners' game last week against the Cleveland Browns, Samuel sustained a shoulder injury. As he didn't take part in practice during the entire week before being ruled out two days ago, he was leaning towards becoming a game-day decision.

The good news for the 49ers is that Samuel does not need to be listed on the IR because doing so would compel him to miss up to four games. The 27-year-old's potential comeback after the bye week will now be the team's main concern. In Week 10, the 49ers play the Jacksonville Jaguars.

On Saturday, coach Kyle Shanahan said:

"Playing without Samuel is always different. He's been banged up a few weeks before that too, so this will give him a chance to settle down, and hopefully, come back 100 percent after the bye."

This season, Samuel has 20 catches for 302 yards and one score in six games.

San Francisco 49ers injury report: Latest on Christian McCaffrey, Trent Williams and more

Several important San Francisco 49ers players are either doubtful or questionable to play in tonight's game against the Minnesota Vikings.

Despite missing practice throughout the week, running back Christian McCaffrey is expected to play today, according to ESPN. CMC was limited in practice on Saturday due to an oblique injury from last week, but when questioned by the media, he declared he felt great.

The 49ers' final injury report lists the star running back as questionable, but fans will be desperate for him to start on Monday, as Deebo Samuel has been ruled out. This season, CMC has 730 rushing yards and nine touchdowns.

Moreover, linebacker Dre Greenlaw is "questionable" after missing last week's defeat due to a hamstring issue.

Trent Williams, an offensive tackle for San Francisco, is also doubtful for the contest. Something else to watch out for before the game is that the player is essentially leaning more away from playing than he does toward playing.
