Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray, who was rehabbing from a long-term knee injury last season, will not participate in preseason games once again this year. The quarterback will not play in the opener against the New Orleans Saints today, at State Farm Stadium, as confirmed earlier in the week by coach Jonathan Gannon.

Murray has not participated in a preseason game since he played against the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 2 of the 2021 preseason. Last year, he was recovering from an anterior cruciate ligament injury in his right knee and he didn't play again until mid-campaign. After recovering, the QB started for Arizona and finished with a 3-5 record.

Kyler Murray was the No. 1 overall pick out of Oklahoma in the 2019 NFL draft. He has a 28-36-1 record in his career regular-season starts, with one winning season and one postseason appearance.

The team's remaining quarterbacks, Clayton Tune and Desmond Ridder, will share reps now that Murray is out of the preseason. Gannon has not disclosed how the Cardinals will divide the time between the two QBs but has characterized their competition as extremely healthy.
