Is Stefon Diggs playing vs Patriots? Texans WR's status revealed for Week 6 clashs - Source: Imagn

On Sunday, the Houston Texans will be in action at Gillette Stadium to take on the New England Patriots, who are handing a first-career start to quarterback Drake Maye, the third overall in the 2024 NFL draft.

The 4-1 Texans are the heavy favorites to win the game against the home team, who have lost four straight. However, the energy within the team and inside the stadium will be a lot different with Maye under center, making this a potential slip-up game for the visitors.

To make their job a bit more arduous, standout wide receiver Nico Collins will miss the game against the Patriots, and the Texans' next three at the minimum, after suffering a hamstring injury in the Week 5 win over the Buffalo Bills.

He has been placed on the Injured Reserves list. However, it presents an opportunity for veteran Stefon Diggs to showcase that he's still capable of being the top option in the passing game.

Will Stefon Diggs play in Week 6 vs. the Patriots?

The Texans have an extensive injury list and a slew of veterans like wide receiver Robert Woods (foot), safety Jimmie Ward (groin), and defensive back Kamari Lassiter are set to miss the game.

However, Stefon Diggs' name hasn't appeared on the injury report the entire week, suggesting he's healthy. As long as he doesn't suffer an unforeseen injury or illness ahead of kickoff, the wide receiver will suit up and play against the Patriots.

Stefon Diggs stats: WR has been impactful so far

When the Texans traded for Stefon Diggs, there was palpable excitement about him sharing the field with quarterback C.J. Stroud. So far the veteran and last year's Offensive Rookie of the Year have showcased glimpses of how good their partnership can be.

Through five games, the 30-year-old has caught 31 passes for 315 yards and two touchdowns. Those numbers aren't on par with his production with the Buffalo Bills. However, unlike Buffalo, where he was the top choice in the passing game, he's WR2 in Houston behind Nico Collins.

However, with the 25-year-old set to miss at least four games, Diggs has the chance to improve his numbers and showcase he's still among the league's most prolific wideouts. It remains to be seen how he performs on Sunday against the Patriots and in the Texans' upcoming games.
