Some thought Tua would potentially hold out and not show up to team activities until he received a contract extension. It is unclear whether or not Tagovailoa will participate in activities or if he will "hold in." Holding in has become more popular in recent years. Players hoping for new contracts show up for the team-organized activities but don't partake.

The next three quarterbacks who will likely receive big contract extensions are Tua Tagovailoa, Dak Prescott, and Jordan Love. All three could likely exceed $55 million per season and break $60 million per season.

Six NFL quarterbacks are currently paid $50 million or more per season. Jalen Hurts, Lamar Jackson, Justin Herbert and Joe Burrow signed contract extensions of $51 million per season or more last off-season. This off-season Jared Goff and Trevor Lawrence inked extensions worth over $53 million yearly. Lawrence has tied Burrow as the highest-paid QB in the league, at $55 million per season.

Tagovailoa's contract will look similar to Lawrence's and likely surpass his value. Tagovailoa has a better completion percentage and passer rating and has a winning record. Depending on who gets extended next, that contract could be a good measuring stick for Tagovailoa, if the next QB contract exceeds Lawrence's.

Regardless of the number, Tagovailoa will likely be a top-five, top-three highest-paid quarterback in the NFL.
