“It’s always some drama”: Davante Adams addresses trade rumor after Raiders HC Antonio Pierce’s viral social media activity

Las Vegas Raiders star receiver Davante Adams has reacted to coach Antonio Pierce liking a post suggesting Adams will be traded. The superstar receiver is in his third season with the Raiders.

Adams was the subject of trade rumors this offseason, but no deal happened. As the Raiders are off to a 2-2 start, Adams' name has emerged in trade talks. Following Pierce liking a viral social media post saying Adams will be dealt, Adams commented on the same on the Up & Adams Show on Tuesday.

“I haven’t heard from him. I haven’t talked to him. I don’t really know what that’s about. Social media’s a beast. A lot of people saw it, wondering what’s going on and people reached out. But I haven’t spoken to him," Adams said.

“It’s hard to comment on. I’m sure you would imagine as such but it’s one of those situations where I put my head down and keep doing my thing and let the chips fall where they may as it pertains to that. There’s been no communication with anyone from the team since it became a thing. But it’s become a weekly What’s up with Tae thing. It’s always some sort of drama," Adams added.

Adams has two years left on his deal, but there's a potential out in his deal after this season.

If the team releases him, there would be a $15.7 million dead cap hit, according to Spotrac. This season, Adams has recorded 18 receptions for 209 yards and a touchdown.

UPDATE: Per NFL Network insiders Mike Garafolo and Ian Rapoport, Adams has requested a trade away from the franchise.

Insider shoots down idea of Raiders trading Davante Adams

Although Antonio Pierce liked a social media post suggesting Davanate Adams will be traded, NFL insider Adam Schefter says a trade is unlikely.

"I don't see the Raiders trading (Davante Adams)," Schefter said on the Pat McAfee Show.

"(The Raiders) are thinking 'We're going to keep winning like we did yesterday, we're going to get this back on track and Davante Adams is going to be a part of this."

Adams is the Raiders' top receiver, so Schefter expects him to remain with them for the rest of the season.

Las Vegas is coming off a 20-16 home win over the Cleveland Browns in a game Adams didn't play due to injury. The Raiders return to the field on Sunday on the road against the Denver Broncos in an AFC West divisional game.
