Aaron Rodgers may be the biggest quarterback domino to fall this offseason, and New York Jets fans are all but convinced he's going to be their next quarterback.
After a whirlwind of ineffective quarterbacks last year (and most of the years since the turn of the century), the Jets faithful are ready to have a good quarterback.
Rodgers would cost a lot, both in assets and cap space. The Jets have just converted C.J. Uzomah's salary into a bonus, so there's a real chance they're trying to make space for Rodgers' salary.

This is obviously only one small step towards clearing up the space they need. As it stands, Rodgers will make $60 million next year. With a trade, there might be some restructuring, but he's going to be expensive and the Jets will have to do a lot more.
Nevertheless, Jets fans are certain now that Rodgers is going to play in New York, eerily following the path set by his predecessor in Green Bay, Brett Favre.
NFL fans are convinced that the Jets are taking the necessary steps to clear room for the four-time MVP quarterback. They nearly made the playoffs last season despite poor play from Zach Wilson, Mike White and company.
They proved to be a quarterback away in all reality, and now they appear to be heavily targeting that quarterback.
Should the New York Jets go after Aaron Rodgers?
Aaron Rodgers in his prime would be the best quarterback on the market. As it stands, he's probably the second-best option for any team behind Lamar Jackson, so he's still worth pursuing.
Nevertheless, he's also going to be the most expensive quarterback. No quarterback that signs anywhere, not even Jackson, will go for $60 million a season. Aaron Rodgers also requires a trade and not just a contract.
The Jets are close, but going after it with Rodgers means they had better win something now. In two years, Rodgers will likely retire and leave the Jets in poor shape.
If they want to go for it now, which isn't truly a bad idea, they have to make sure it's going to work. Otherwise, it will set the franchise back for a while.
