NFL analyst Dianna Russini of The Athletic shared an update on the contract issues facing San Francisco 49ers star players Trent Williams and Brandon Aiyuk. Williams is reportedly holding out as he wants to add more years to his deal, while Aiyuk has requested a trade.
Although Aiyuk has requested a trade, he is at camp and a video went viral of him dapping up Kyle Shanahan and John Lynch. According to Russini, the 49ers are trying to get something done with Williams to get him back on the field. Russini said on Scoop City:
"Right now they're still trying to get Trent Williams back on the field. Remember, he's holding out. He wants added years, obviously more guaranteed money to his contract at 36 years old. They have not been able to figure that out.
"We know how negotiations go. They look around the league and they say, 'Oh, this guy is the highest-paid offensive lineman.' Hmm. I think you would argue that Trent Williams is the best offensive lineman in football. 11-time All Pro."

Russini said both players are trying to get paid, especially Trent Williams who knows this will arguably be his final contract. Aiyuk, meanwhile, is hoping to get paid and have security as he's in the final year of his deal. Russini added:
"It's going to be more about the money for the way they're operating, knowing that this is going to probably be the last deal for Trent Williams. So we'll see as we continue to wait on the 49ers to make their decisions not with not only Trent Williams but the hold-in with Brandon. I think that deal is still not complete."
As Russini said, no deal for Aiyuk or Wiliams is done, and whether or not a deal will get done before the start of the season is uncertain.
