At 5-7, the San Francisco 49ers are hurting heading into Week 14's matchup with the Chicago Bears. No Brandon Aiyuk, Christian McCaffrey and Jordan Mason means they will be short-handed to go up against the Bears who only recently fired Matt Eberflus. However, it appears some NFL fans also want Kyle Shanahan out the door.

With the Niners all but out of the race for the playoffs, NFL fans and analysts have been vocal about Kyle Shanahan's shortcomings this season. However, so far, there have been no reports pertaining to the Niners making any kind of decision on Shanahan's future.

During an appearance on Audacy on Thursday, The Athletic's NFL analyst Ted Nguyen made his feelings clear on rumors around Shanahan's future.

"I think the Kyle Shanahan talk is ridiculous. One bad season and you're thinking of firing (or trading) the head coach? It's ridiculous," Nguyen said on the show.

Colin Cowherd proposes bold Kyle Shanahan trade proposal

During one of his episodes of The Herd, Colin Cowherd suggested a potential trade that could blow the NFC North wide open.

"Pro Football Talk suggested the Bears should call Kyle Shanahan, and I'm just going to throw this out. Kyle Shanahan is smart. He has a losing record in San Francisco without Christian McCaffrey. He is staring down the barrel of signing Brock Purdy, injured for the second time, to a big deal. It is an old, expensive, brittle roster.

"And here are the Bears. Good roster. He'd get power. Quarterback is free for four years. Chicago is a massive football brand. And to be the savior of it, I think he takes the call."

The last head coach trade we saw was the one that brought Sean Payton to Denver. At the time, the New Orleans Saints received a 2023 first-round pick and 2024 second-round pick. In exchange, the Broncos got their new head coach and a 2024 third-round pick.

While head coach trades are pretty rare in the NFL, one thing is for certain. The Bears will likely have to pay a higher price to prise Shanahan away from the Bay in order to get Caleb Williams firing on all cylinders.
