Dallas Cowboys tight end Jake Ferguson suffered a left knee injury in the team's Week 1 road win over the Cleveland Browns on Sunday. The tight end caught three passes for 15 yards before the setback.
Jake Ferguson injury: What happened to Cowboys TE?
Jake Ferguson's knee injury will not see him sit out for the rest of the season. The tight end was at the end of an ugly tackle that saw his left leg pinned under a Browns defender.
According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, Ferguson has been diagnosed with an MCL sprain and a bone bruise. Although he will miss a couple of weeks, it is not season-ending, which is good news for Cowboys fans.

Ferguson left the third quarter after he was tackled and was listed as questionable to return, but he never did.
Cowboys beat writer Patrik Walker revealed Ferguson exited Dallas' locker room without crutches or a brace, only wearing an ice pack.
Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott also gave some encouraging words on Ferguson's health after the win.
“I think we dodged a big one. Talking to him, he gave me a lot of confidence that he’ll be OK,” Prescott said.
On Monday morning, Ferguson took to social media to give a positive update.
Ferguson was targeted five times before the injury.
When will Jake Ferguson return from injury?
Although Jake Ferguson avoided serious injury, the tight end will be out for a couple of weeks with an MCL sprain. MCL sprains usually take three to six weeks to heal, meaning Ferguson will likely miss at least three games.
If Ferguson stays out for that amount of time, he would be in a position to return to the field on Oct. 6 against the Pittsburgh Steelers. But it is likely Ferguson will return sometime in October.
The Cowboys are coming off a 33-17 road win over the Cleveland Browns in Week 1. It was a game the defense dominated in, which pass rusher Micah Parsons says wasn't even the best they could be.
“We didn’t even open up the full bag,” Parsons said. “For a lot of us, it was our first game since the playoff loss (in January). We’re just getting back into it, tackling people again, getting to that full contact game plan. I just think the sky is the limit. This is just the beginning.”
Dallas will host the New Orleans Saints in Week 2.
