"Jalen Hurts getting carried by Saquon Barkley" - NFL fans unimpressed with Eagles QB's mediocre outing in Divisional Round

Jalen Hurts and Saquon Barkley will be back for the NFC Championship game with the Eagles after dispatching the Rams 28-22 in the Divisional Round. It was a victory built by the running back, who rushed in for two mammoth touchdowns.

He started with a 62-yarder in the first half when his team was trailing 7-6 in the first half. He followed it up with a 78-yard run in the second half, in what proved to be Philadelphia's final score of the game. Just those brought his yardage to 140, and he finished with over 200 yards for the evening.

Hurts was careful with the ball and did not have a single interception. However, he did not throw a touchdown pass, although he did rush for 70 yards and got a touchdown on the ground. His yards through the air totaled a meager 128, with 63 yards lost on seven sacks behind arguably the best offensive line in the league. His adjusted net passing output was just 65 yards.

That caused many to accuse the running back of carrying his quarterback through games. Fans took to X (formerly Twitter) to say that Saquon Barkley deserved more credit than Jalen Hurts for the Eagles reaching the NFC Championship.

The reaction by fans saying Saquon Barkley is more important than Jalen Hurts is one that the running back is already familiar with. He was in a similar situation with the Giants but New York decided that the quarterback, as a position, was more important. They gave a big contract to Daniel Jones while relegating their rushing star to a basic contract that paid the same as the franchise tag with some other incentives.

That relationship never recovered and their arch-rivals pounced to bring the running back to Philadelphia. Jalen Hurts has been with the Eagles longer but there is no doubt that the franchise values their newer addition as much as anybody on the roster.
