The Philadelphia Eagles will host the Green Bay Packers in Super Wild Card weekend, but there are questions about who will start under center for the Eagles.
Jalen Hurts has missed the last two games due to a concussion but returned to Wednesday's practice. Although he hasn't practiced in weeks, Eagles offensive lineman Jordan Mailata says Hurts was as sharp as possible.
“I’ve been in this position before with a concussion, and when you miss time, you try and find ways to get back as fast as you can,” Mailata said, via NBC. “I think he did a great job of dealing with that and coming back as sharp as he did today. I thought he had a phenomenal practice.”
The hope for the Eagles is Hurts has no concussion symptoms and will be cleared from the protocol and allowed to start on Sunday. NFL insider Adam Schefter reported that all signs point to Hurts playing in the wild-card round.

“He’s been in concussion protocol. He remains in concussion protocol," Schefter said on Get Up. "But he is expected to start on Sunday, and so both teams have some health questions around their quarterback, how they’ll respond to what they’ve been through in recent weeks. But Jalen Hurts, barring the unexpected, is expected to start for the Eagles.”
Hurts hasn't played since December 22 when he went just 1-for-4 before leaving with a concussion.
Eagles coach not worried about rust with Jalen Hurts
Jalen Hurts hasn't played or practiced since he left the Week 16 loss to the Washington Commanders. Eagles coach Nick Sirianni isn't worried about rust.
"This is why you practice," Sirianni said, via NFL.com. "This is why you go through the process of practicing and all the things that you do at practice to get on the same page and do everything there. We feel like we practice at a very high intensity level. This is why you go out there and do those things."
Hurts has gone 248-for-361 for 2,903 yards, 18 touchdowns and five interceptions this season. In Week 1 in Brazil, Philadelphia defeated Green Bay 34-29. Hurts finished the game 20-for-34 for 278 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions.
The Eagles are 4.5-point favorites to defeat the Packers on Sunday at 4:30 p.m. ET.
