Jason Kelce, the former Philadelphia Eagles center turned NFL analyst, found himself at the center of a media storm. This came after his frank comments about the Eagles-Commanders matchup.
His podcast and ESPN analysis have made him a prominent voice in football commentary.
The original comments emerged during a SPORTSRADIO 94WIP broadcast on Thursday, just days before the NFC championship game between Philadelphia and Washington.
"I'll be very candid," Kelce said. "I think the Eagles are better at every position. I don't know that there is one position — if you put the two rosters, the depth charts next to each other — that I would take the Washington player over the Eagle player. And that is a very honest assessment."

Kelce quickly provided additional context through a retweet, emphasizing his respect for the Commanders.
"Just to clarify, I wasn't really talking about the QBs with this quote. I think both QBs are incredible. Jayden is having an insane rookie season," Kelce posted.
The context matters. This game represents a rare divisional playoff showdown — only the fifth such matchup since the league's 2002 realignment. The Eagles and Commanders split their two regular-season meetings, each winning by a single possession.
Jason Kelce's made more than just roster comparisons
Jason Kelce acknowledged Washington's strengths, praising their linebackers, defensive tackles Jonathan Allen and Daron Payne and Commanders coach Dan Quinn.
"Washington is very good, obviously, their linebackers are fantastic, and the DTs Allen and Payne are very good," Kelce said. "They are good across the board. In the rest of the interview I go on to say Washington plays very well as a team, they’re very physical, well coached, and a resilient group. It’s going to be a dog fight. Wasn’t trying to say anything negative about them" He added in his clarifying retweet.
The numbers back up Kelce's quarterback praise. Jayden Daniels has put up 5,113 total yards, 35 touchdowns and nine turnovers in 19 games, which are remarkable for a rookie. If Washington wins, he could become the first rookie QB to start in a Super Bowl.
Philadelphia brings its firepower. The Eagles are sending six players to the Pro Bowl, compared to Washington's two. Jalen Hurts has accounted for 3,898 total yards and 35 TDs in 17 games
The stage is set for an epic battle. Two division rivals. One shot at the Super Bowl. And a narrative that's bigger than one analyst's assessment.
