On this week's episode of the "New Heights" podcast, Jason Kelce gave advice to a listener about gift giving. The listener called in and asked for advice on how to tell someone that they are a bad gift giver.
Kelce said that he learned the hard way how to handle gift-giving from an experience he and his younger brother Travis Kelce had with their mom, Donna. Jason explained that for many years they bought their mother the same gift every Christmas, usually a candle or a pair of earrings. He said by the time they were in high school, Donna Kelce told her sons they didn't have to give her the same gift every year.
"Don't f*ck around with this, because it sounds like it's an issue," Jason said (58:10). "If you got a bad gift giver, you got to say something and nip it in the bud, because I'll tell you this mom, Donna Kelce, had to deal with Christmas upon Christmas of the exact same gifts, earrings and candles, earrings and candles and pistachio nuts for I mean, we did it our whole childhood, before we were in high school, where she said, you know, guys, you don't have to give me the same thing every single Christmas..."
He added that if someone in your life isn't good at purchasing gifts, gently offer some advice or 'plant a seed' at what you may want to give them ideas.

"And you can, you don't have to be like a jerk about it," the former Philadelphia Eagles center said. "Just be like, Hey, I think, like, I got my feelings, yeah, or just whatever you don't like about the gifts. Don't say you don't like them. Just say, 'Hey, I just like sometimes I think I would appreciate something more sentimental, something I like, I really like jewelry'. Just say what you like. You don't have to say what you don't like. You can plant seeds as to what you want."
Travis Kelce agreed that the right approach to the bad 'gift giver' is to be gentle and not be rude about what they may purchase.
Travis and Jason Kelce revealed their thoughts on "Love Actually"
As part of their Christmas-themed episode of the "New Heights" podcast, Travis and Jason Kelce spoke about Christmas movies. Travis Kelce said that "Love Actually", which Taylor Swift has mentioned being her favorite, is actually a good movie.
"You might be the eyeball out here. I actually enjoyed 'Love Actually'," Travis said.
Jason Kelce then disputed the thought and went on to describe "Love Actually" as horrendous at points.
"I will concede, it's not an unenjoyable movie to watch. My issue is the Christmas aspect of it, and then also, just like the overall sentiment and lessons and overall values that it expunged, expounds, are absolutely horrendous," Jason said (5:19).
Jason Kelce poked fun at the plot and didn't feel that it was a valid Christmas movie. His wife, Kylie Kelce, who was a special guest on this episode, sat there in disbelief as her husband described what he didn't like about the movie.
