There's drama brewing in San Francisco between wide receivers Brandon Aiyuk and Jauan Jennings. After Aiyuk officially requested a trade from the 49ers on Tuesday, his teammate and wide receiver Jauan Jennings seemingly threw shots at Aiyuk.

Jennins posted a subliminal message on his Instagram on Tuesday with many thinking it was a shot at Aiyuk.

Jennings said via his Instagram story:

"You got to be different type of person to act like you’re doing everything by yourself knowing dang well you not.”

Jennings and Aiyuk have been teammates since they entered the league in 2020. Jennings signed a two–year, $15.4 million contract extension with the 49ers this off-season.

Aiyuk has been in trade rumors all off-season. His name was brought up before the 2024 NFL Draft and some thought he or Deebo Samuel (or both wide receivers) could have been traded during the draft.

After months of no progress in a new contract extension, Aiyuk requested a trade in hopes of getting a new contract or being traded to a new team that would sign him.

Aiyuk is reportedly seeking a contract worth $30 million or more per season. Three wide receivers, Justin Jefferson, Amon-Ra St. Brown and A.J. Brown have received new contracts being paid $30 million per season this offseason.

Should Brandon Aiyuk be a top-five highest-paid wide receiver in the NFL?

The way that the wide receiver market is exploding, Brandon Aiyuk deserves to be a top-five highest-paid wide receiver in the NFL.

Aiyuk is entering the fifth and final season of his rookie contract. His receiving yard totals have gone up each season (748, 826, 1,015, 1,342) and he's been a consistent receiver for the 49ers since being drafted in 2020.

He's had 1,000-yard seasons and at least 75 catches in each of the last two seasons while being named an All-Pro this past season. With many wide receivers looking for contract extensions, the sooner the 49ers can agree to a deal with Brandon Aiyuk, the better, even if they have to make a top-five highest-paid wide receiver right now.
