Fans often label the NFL as the "No Fun League" due to a variety of reasons, mostly related to touchdown celebration penalties. However, outside the sphere of the game itself, rappers Jay-Z and Fat Joe may have a case of their own regarding the league.

In a recent interview, the "What's Luv?" rapper claimed that an unreleased collaboration with Jay-Z will remain unreleased due to the NFL. In 2019, the league made a concerted effort to coordinate with the Black community for social justice issues by making a deal with Jay-Z. The deal included giving the rapper a seat at the table to help book Super Bowl halftime shows, among other things.

For this reason, Fat Joe believes that the rapper's deal with the league compromises their song collaboration that includes some "disses" at the league:

“He was talking about the NFL stuff. He had just signed that big deal with that NFL, so he wanted to let it go. He gave it to me … But I guess his people were like, ‘Yo bro, you just did a deal with them. How are you going to go in like that?'”

As for the supposed song, the "Lean Back" rapper disclosed its whereabouts:

“I got a copy here. I don’t listen to it but I got it — Dre got it. Let me put it clear. Dre of Cool & Dre got it. I don’t have it.”

Jay-Z's deal with the league remains an influential agreement as he has had a hand in booking Super Bowl halftime talents. Since his company Roc Nation started working with the league, the halftime shows have featured Jennifer Lopez, Shakira, The Weeknd, Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, and Mary J. Blige.

Jay-Z does it again by booking Rihanna for the NFL's Super Bowl LVII

After last year's hit show that featured Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Detroit's own Eminem, and Mary J. Blige, this year's show has another big star. Due to her work with Jay-Z in the past on songs like "Umbrella" and "Run This Town," Rihanna will grace the halftime stage of Super Bowl LVII in Phoenix, Arizona.

Rihanna had been away from the music scene for a while, but she started to return to the mainstream with her hit song "Lift Me Up" for Marvel's latest movie "Black Panther: Wakanda Forever." The song paid tribute to the late actor Chadwick Boseman, who played the title character Black Panther.

If the last few Super Bowl shows are any indication, this year's pageantry should receive the same buzz.
