Jayden Daniels has done it: he has helped the Washington Commanders reach the NFC Championship Game for the first time in the 21st century.

On Saturday, the rookie quarterback put on a calm and collected performance, completing 22 of 31 attempts for 299 yards and two touchdowns against no interceptions and sacks taken and rushing sixteen times for an additional 51 to engineer a shocking 45-31 victory at the top-seeded Detroit Lions in the Divisional Round.

Immediately after the game, his mother Regina Jackson, an NFLPA-certified agent, delivered this ominous message on her social media account, alarming the league about Daniels' untapped and unseen potential after the rookie's heroics.

The win continues a tremendous turnaround for the Washington Commanders, who just twelve months ago were coming off a disastrous 4-13 record when current owner Josh Harris inherited the embattled Dan Snyder's coaching and front office. During the ensuing offseason, he went to work, replacing Ron Rivera and Martin Mayhew with Dan Quinn and Adam Peters and overseeing an overhaul of the organization.

Daniels, the second overall pick of the ensuing Draft, played a huge part in said turnaround, completing 331 of 480 attempts for 3,568 yards and 25 touchdowns against nine interceptions and rushing 149 times for a rookie record 891 yards and six touchdowns en route to a 12-5 record.

After the game, Jayden Daniels took to the stand to address the monumentally historic win, which he called a “surreal moment” for the DMV area.

“It’s a very electrifying fanbase, game, atmosphere, so I was excited playing it. But you can’t let the outside distractions distract you from the main goal - the win.”

When asked what the winning strategy was, he responded:

“Handle the blitz, know when your man-beaters are, beat man-to-man coverage - we did that. Kudos to them, that’s a phenomenal team over there, well-coached, fight hard.”

Meanwhile, head coach Dan Quinn continued his trend of praising his rookie man, whom he called “a rare competitor” with “a different poise about him”:

“There’s no doubt about that… If he was a basketball player, he’d want the last shot. As a ball player, he wants the ball in his hands to make the difference, and he makes great decisions with the football. That takes real mindfulness.”

Kickoff for the NFC Championship Game, where the Commanders will visit either the Los Angeles Rams or Philadelphia Eagles, is at 3:05 PM ET.
