How did Jeffrey Lurie make his money?

Before he became the CEO of the Philadelphia Eagles, Lurie tried to make it in business.

He graduated from three universities with as many different degrees: a B.A. from Clark University, an M.A. in psychology from Boston University and a PhD in social policy from Brandeis University.

He established Chestnut Hill Productions in 1985 and began to establish himself in Hollywood. Lurie has received three Academy Awards for his work as an executive producer and has produced several films, television programmes and documentaries.

Due to his early love of Boston sports, Lurie tried to purchase the New England Patriots in 1993 but wasn't successful. He obtained a loan and chose to buy the Eagles for $185 million in 1994.

Lurie also considered joining a group that would compete for the expansion rights of the Baltimore Ravens and tried to purchase the Los Angeles Rams. He had made up his mind to purchase an NFL team, and he eventually succeeded in doing so in May 1994 when he paid $185 million for the Eagles.

Phillip Smith, Jeffrey Lurie's great grandfather, established the General Cinemas chain of movie theaters in 1935. When the corporation started to change and grow in the 1960s, the family money truly started to soar.

Norman Braman owned the Philadelphia Eagles before Lurie. For nine years, Braman was the Eagles' proprietor.
