Dallas Cowboys team owner Jerry Jones made his weekly radio appearance on 103.5 The Fan. Jones was asked about his team's pursuit of free agent wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. While the Cowboys were one of the teams that Beckham visited at the end of November, no movement has been made with Dallas or any other team.
As the playoffs inch closer each week, the chances of the wide receiver signing become less and less. Jones said that as of Tuesday morning, there was no update on the Cowboys signing Beckham. He said that the playoffs are near and every day that goes by without him signing gives Dallas less of a chance to sign him.
Jerry Jones said on 105.3 The Fan:
"As of this morning, we don’t have anything. I don’t have an assessment. The reality is that time is moving on down the road relative to playing in the playoffs, so every day diminishes our chances of getting (him) going forward.”

Jones' comments come just days after it was said that he was sure that the Dallas Cowboys would be able to sign OBJ in the coming days. Now it appears that he has changed his tune.
The Dallas Cowboys made a free agent move last week as they signed veteran wide receiver TY Hilton. Adding another veteran to the talented offense is a good addition for the Cowboys as they prepare for the playoffs. Despite a loss in Week 15 to the Jacksonville Jaguars, the Cowboys clinched a playoff spot with a loss by the Washington Commanders.
Will Odell Beckham Jr. sign a contract this season?
Free agent wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. was medically cleared to return to the football field in November. The wide receiver, who tore his ACL in Super Bowl LVI, visited both the Cowboys and his former team, the New York Giants, after Thanksgiving.
OBJ was interested in signing with a team for the remainder of this season. But as the weeks continue to pass by, the likelihood of him signing a contract for this season or next looks doubtful.
At this point, many NFL teams believe that OBJ will continue to stay a free agent this season. Meaning that he will have to wait until NFL free agency opens in March before signing a long-term contract.
Whether that will be the most lucrative plan for the wide receiver remains to be seen.
