Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones believes Troy Aikman's criticism of his team was fair. The former Cowboys quarterback took aim at the team's receiving corps. Aikman went viral for his comments on a radio station, claiming the receivers were lazy and not running routes properly.
“I think the routes are terrible,” Aikman said last Thursday on The Ticket in Dallas, via The Athletic. “I think they run terrible routes. And I’ve thought that beyond this year. I think CeeDee (Lamb) has got to improve in his route running. As a quarterback, if you’re not certain where guys are going to be consistently, it’s hard to play the position. That’s what I see.
“I see guys lazy coming off the line of scrimmage. Sometimes they run, usually if they do, it’s because they’re anticipating they’re going to get the football on that play, but if they’re not, they don’t. And it all ties together. I’m not impressed with that part of it.”
After Aikman's comments, Jerry Jones did his weekly radio hit and was asked about it. Surprisingly, the owner didn't defend his team but rather agreed with Aikman.

"Troy knows football. Troy is credible. I think he is very fair ... I think we can improve," Jones said.
The wide receiver room is led by CeeDee Lamb, who has yet to go over 100 receiving yards in a game this season. Dallas also doesn't have any receiver above 500+ yards this season, and only Lamb is above 300+ yards.
Cowboys HC Mike McCarthy fires back at Troy Aikman
While Jerry Jones agreed with Troy Aikman, Cowboys coach Mike McCarthy disagreed.
“They don’t carry any weight with me, because I watch all the tape,” McCarthy said during a Monday news conference. “I get to go to the meetings. I’m at practice. I’m part of the games. So I have a clear understanding of what and where.
"Troy’s statement in particular, I don’t agree with the word selection. There is definitely need for improvement in every position, not just one position that he commented on.”
The Cowboys will look to get back on track on Sunday Night Football against the San Francisco 49ers.
