The Dallas Cowboys just can't seem to shake the headlines off, but perhaps that's what happens when you're the most valuable sports franchise in the world. This week, when it comes to Cowboys news, all the talk has been about how Dak Prescott is firmly in Mike McCarthy's corner as rumors persist over his future at The Star.

In an interview with Yahoo! Sports' Jori Epstein, Prescott said:

"I believe in him wholeheartedly. I don't want to necessarily get into the nuts and the screws of it all obviously, but I think he definitely deserves a chance. Another contract and a chance to coach this team amongst more influence. 'On his terms' may be a good way to say it."

In an interview this week, Jones was asked for his take on Prescott's comments. The Cowboys owner said on 105.3 The Fan:

"Dak has a vested interest in the team. He's a critical part of our success as we go forward. His thoughts and ideas about how to be better are very important.
"I understand completely. That was the right thing for him to say. If he had been out here and our quarterback and making plays and helping us have a better record than we got right now, that's the way you help Mike. Those kinds of things I know are hard when you're hurt."

Cowboys Hall of Famer disagrees with Dak Prescott's Mike McCarthy take

Hall of Famer wide receiver Michael Irvin has been pretty vocal about his thoughts on the state of his beloved franchise. In an appearance on FS1's Speak this week, Irvin sent Prescott and the Cowboys brass a message as they ponder McCarthy's future over the next couple of months:

"It’s very admirable of Dak Prescott to come out and support his head coach and talk about how he wants him to come back. And I believe that. But ain’t nobody listening to that. Because the reality is he’s not the key for the Cowboys right now."

Irvin has also been vocal about wanting Deion Sanders to take over from McCarthy should the Cowboys choose to part ways this summer.

Heading into Week 14, McCarthy has a 47-32 record with Dallas in the regular season though the 1-3 record in the playoffs is a matter of concern.
