New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers is looking to have a comeback season after suffering a season-ending Achilles injury in Week 1 of 2023. The comeback will have to wait a few more weeks as an update about the quarterback's status for the preseason schedule has been announced.
Jets head coach Robert Saleh announced that Aaron Rodgers is unlikely to play in the three preseason games this summer as he continues his recovery.

NFL fans immediately reacted to the news.
Some questioned as to why he wouldn't play this preseason, and of course, there were plenty of jokes. One fan jokingly asked if Rodgers was jet lagged from his trip to Egypt, a trip that caused him to miss minicamp earlier this offseason.
Other fans commented on Schefter's post about Aaron Rodgers by asking why he would need more time to rehab his Achilles injury. Some even mentioned how Rodgers had previously said that he would be ready to play in 2023 if the New York Jets had made the playoffs.
"Interesting considering he said he would’ve played in the playoffs last year if the Jets had made it," one fan who questioned the decision said.
"Pretty weird since he basically hasn't played legitimate football since Jan 8, 2023," another fan said.
A few fans questioned why the Jets wouldn't want to get the quarterback some reps. The 40-year-old hasn't been in a full game since January 2023.
"Then he NEEDS TO get some live scrimmage reps in practice. Not having him get hit 1x after that injury, at 40, before playing in a game against the 49’ers is a BAD MOVE," one fan added.
"He is still questionable for Week 16 2023, however," one fan said.
"But I was told he was a modern medical miracle healed by willpower," asked one user on X.
"He’s still hurting," one fan said.
QB Aaron Rodgers and Jets OL have miscues in practice
The New York Jets offensive line's performance in 2024 will be integral for the success of quarterback Aaron Rodgers. Earlier this week, the offensive lines had some miscues that must have made the veteran quarterback unhappy. Jets center Joe Tippman had a bad snap that threw off the timing of a shovel pass.
Rodgers had his foot stepped on by the offensive line, which in turn caused a fumble as he fell to the ground.
The Jets added some key players to the offensive line this offseason to protect their quarterback. Morgan Moses, John Simpson and Tyron Smith are all valuable assets who should play a key role on the line this season.
